David Horner
Head of School
David Horner graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1995. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi College in 2000. Upon graduation, David worked in missions and ministry until returning to school where he received his master’s degree in Teaching from Belhaven University in 2003. Over the next 12 years he went on to teach and coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Northpoint Christian School in Southaven, MS (formerly SBEC), and Jackson Prep.
In 2014 he accepted the role of teacher, coach, and Student Life Director at Hartfield. During his first year he directed the school’s chapel programs (called ‘Awakening’), established Arise Week – a time of local and international missions for the middle and high school, and served with Dawn Martin and John Bakelaar as the administrative team during the school’s transition in leadership. In January of 2015 David was selected by the Board of Trustees to be Hartfield’s 2nd Head of School and began those duties in full in June of that year.
During the past year under David’s leadership Hartfield has worked to develop excellence and consistency at all levels of the school. While the school has seen tremendous growth among its students, staff, and influence, the desire to see each individual student’s heart for God nurtured, while not compromising excellence in academics remains the most important priority for David and the school.
David is married to Amy and they have 3 children, Robby, Daniel, and Grace.
