I feel like I say this every year, but I can hardly believe we are in the final stretches of the school year. We have almost made it, but before we start thinking about our beach vacations and camping trips, let’s commit to finishing this year out strong! For our seniors, exams begin tomorrow and continue into next week with a special time of recognition coming at Senior Awards and Awakening on Tuesday, May 8th. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to our graduation ceremony on May 11th at 7:00 pm at Pinelake Church. We would love for you to join us as we celebrate the Class of 2018.
For the rest of our students, we will fit in exams and the last of all academic work, awards ceremonies, end of the year parties, field days, and then before we know it, we will be sending everyone off for a much needed summer break. It has been a great year! I am thankful for our faculty and staff, for the ways I have seen our students grow and excel, and for the confidence I have that every child who entered Hartfield will complete this year having experienced growth in many different ways. I am grateful that I get to be a part of the work happening at Hartfield every day and thankful that you entrust us with your students. We look forward to welcoming back the largest enrollment to date when we begin classes in August!
But before then, it looks like we are about to embark on our BUSIEST summer yet. I will warn you now, please “excuse our mess,” because beginning mid-May, we will begin shifting offices, cleaning out closets, and preparing Building A, our current elementary and middle school, for the major transformation it will undergo beginning the afternoon of May 23rd. As soon as our last student pulls off campus on May 23rd, Fountain Construction will move fully onto campus and will be completely renovating Building A- including updating classrooms, a new and expanded Dining Hall, relocating the playground, along with moving the administrative offices towards the new Plaza. And that is all in addition to the continued work on Building C- the new High School Building and Thomas W. Colbert Theater and Commons. When our students come back to campus in August, in many ways, they are going to be experiencing a brand new campus! We are forever grateful to everyone’s commitment to our Capital Campaign. It is exciting to see the fruits of our labors come to life as the expansion and renovation moves towards completion.
Finally, I would like to share a note regarding Athletics. We are always mindful of the facilities in which our student athletes practice and play, and as we are able, we do our best to address important issues and needs. Recently, we were approached by several individuals with a desire to improve our baseball field, addressing significant drainage issues that have been an ongoing issue for many years. It’s important for me to emphasize to all our patrons that none of the dollars designated to our recent capital campaign are being used for this field improvement. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions regarding this or any other ongoing projects at our school this summer.
Again, we are entering the busiest summer we have seen to date at Hartfield Academy! But, we are entering it with excitement and anticipation, because we know it will not be long until the doors to our newly expanded and renovated West Campus open on August 7th. We cannot wait to showcase and celebrate all the ways God has provided for our school. He has done great things!
Let’s finish strong!
