Hartfield Academy recently became the only secondary school in the Metro-Jackson area to be certified as a Cisco Networking Academy.
The Cisco Networking Academy is an IT skills and career building program that connects millions of students, educators, and professionals worldwide. The specialized curriculum gives high school students access to IT courses and certifications that they would otherwise not experience until college.
The Cisco Network courses offered at Hartfield will be highly interactive and include games, simulations, hands-on labs, and competitions. This cutting edge learning platform will prepare students with the technical and cognitive skills needed for success in today’s digital world. This program is an excellent fit for students interested in Security, Programming, Networking, IT, and Business. But students do more than just gain technical mastery, they come away prepared to drive innovation and help companies meet the challenges of digital transformation. In fact, 70% of students who completed these advanced courses obtain new or better jobs, take on increased responsibility, and even earn higher pay. “I am excited to take our students and their future careers to the next level by offering these valuable courses as part of their education here at Hartfield,” says Allen Cotton, IT Director at Hartfield Academy.
How will this certification further benefit students? During the program, students have the opportunity to earn up to three globally-recognized Cisco Certifications before graduating high school. The competitive advantage of entering a college IT program with such experience is invaluable. This also means that upon college graduation, these students will be eligible for mid to high level engineering careers.
With the rapid growth in digital information, over the last decade, Hartfield Academy is excited to be an active part in launching the next generation of engineering and IT professionals.
