Awakening is our weekly gathering where our desire is to see God move and stir a spiritual awakening within our school.
The name Awakening comes from Ephesians 5:14 which says, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” We believe that God desires to awaken each of us to have a spiritual hunger and thirst for Him. Our weekly gathering is how we have created the environment for that very thing to happen.
Parents and families are always welcome to join in on our chapel services. Come and let’s worship together!

One of our core values at Hartfield is service. We believe service follows the example of Jesus Christ and is the key to greatness. We strive to emulate Christ by serving others ahead of self. In the fall, we do a series on missions and service during Awakening. At that time, we introduce what Arise Week is so that the students can begin to pray about where they can serve in the spring. Arise Week takes place the few days before Spring Break, and every 9th-12th grade student serves either at a local ministry or on a global trip.
Last year, we had 5 local ministries that our students served. We also had 4 different global trips they could choose from, with 3 of those options being mission trips. For our middle school students, we have an Arise Day for each grade in April where we serve a local ministry together.
Align Groups are optional small groups for our 9-12th grade students that are led by local leaders in our community. We seek local leaders from outside our walls that have a desire to invest in our students! Hartfield asks trusted leaders that have a passion for the Lord and for students to prayerfully consider investing in a small group of about 4-5 students twice a month.
Breakout Groups are discipleship-focused large groups that meet once a month with male/female students and faculty. These breakout groups for our high school students are led by a man and woman each year that have a deep passion to see our students grow in their faith.). Our middle school breakout groups are led by staff members. Hartfield strives to portray to our students what a man and woman of God look like. We believe God created both male and female in His image and has a design for manhood and womanhood. We want to teach, train, encourage, equip, and challenge our students in that design!
