After a nationwide search and numerous interviews, the Hartfield Academy board selected Richard (Rick) Burslem to become the founding headmaster for the school.
In his career, Rick has faithfully served as headmaster at several Christian academies, most recently, Hebron Christian Academy near Atlanta. As headmaster of Hartfield Academy, Rick brings a wealth of experience, a strong academic background and an impressive understanding of the mission of a Covenant Christian academy.
To build God’s kingdom one student at a time through Christ-centered education is Rick’s educational philosophy. His professional and leadership philosophy is to empower others and help create growth.
Rick earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Vanderbilt University and then earned a M.Ed. degree in curriculum development K-12, science education, and computer-based education from the University of Delaware. He has also furthered his education at the University of West Georgia through an L5 administration and supervision course, and he is currently enrolled in the doctoral degree program at the University of Georgia, focusing on educational leadership.
